Youry Bondarenko was born in 1952 in Moscow. He is heir to a Russian tradition of landscape painting, portraiture and historical genre painting. Youry Bondarenko is an
artist whose work is always emotionally charged and a painter who has a keen appreciation of subtle pictorial nuances.
He graduated from the Surikov Academy of Fine Art in Moscow in 1982. After graduating from the Art Academy, he took a post-graduate course and wrote a dissertation, which embraced the study of painting techniques and drawings by Old European Masters. He finished his PhD course in 1984.During this time he was also teaching paintings and drawings at the Surikov Academy of Fine Art.In 1982 he joined The Artist’s Union of Russia and has been a regular participant in the All-Russian and International Exhibitions. Since 1989 Youry Bondarenko has had over 45 solo exhibitions and he participated in more 70 exhibitions in Russia, Japan, England, Spain, Sweden, Greece, Austria, France and USA, such as:

1991 - 1996 - Exhibiting in the galleries "Shirano", "Ikebukuro Garou", Tokyo, Japan

1995 - his works were exhibited in Christie's Auction House,London
1998 - exhibiting in Municipal Exhibition Hall in Burgos, Spain
1999 - solo exhibitions in Tochigi and Tukuba, Japan
2000 - exhibition "Poetic realism in art" in The Cork Street Gallery, London
2000 - exhibition in the Cinema Gallery in Aldeburgh, Suffolk, England
2000 - exhibition "Art from the heart of Russia" in Athens, Greece
2003 - exhibition "John James and Youry Bondarenko" in British Embassy in Moscow, Russia
2004 - exhibition "Parks of London through Russian eyes" in The Air Gallery in London, England
2005 - exhibition "An Eye for a City" in The Cork Street Gallery in London, England
His works are held in the state museums in Russia and private collections throughout the world. He lives and works in Moscow.
